Data Verification and QC Services

Once a site has achieved MCERTS certification it is essential to ensure that the data continues to be collected and processed correctly so that the data eventually provided to the EA is an accurate representation of the flows measured at the site. There are a number of transmission errors, instrument faults and processing errors that can corrupt the recorded data, resulting in the accuracy of the processed information falling well outside the required accuracy levels.
It is essential that the collected data is validated at regular intervals to identify any instrument or transmission problems that can result in data loss or corruption. Once the data has been collected and processed the final data set should be verified before the data is provided to the EA. It is much better to identify data problems before the data is provided to the EA and it is also important to be able to provide the EA with the reasons for any failures and to produce evidence of remedial and preventative actions.

Trueflow have over 5 years experience in the verification and quality control of MCERTS flow data. We currently deal with over 400 sites on a monthly basis to provide a monthly performance report identifying data issues such as:
• Meter faults
• Telemetry faults
• Missing values
• Sites exceeding the range
• Spurious recorded flows

All sites undergo a data validation process where invalid data is flagged to ensure that the values are not used in the calculation of the total daily volume. An ongoing QC summary is produced showing the performance at each individual site including the duration of any data collection problems.

We will be happy to quote for your data QC/data verification requirements and can tailor our services to meet your specific requirements.
